Why don’t I see my jurisdiction on the ballot?

Some city, school, and special district jurisdictions have moved from holding at-large elections to district elections. Under an at-large system, all of a jurisdiction’s elected officials represent, and are elected by, all of its citizens. Under a district system, jurisdictions are divided into portions called districts. Each district is represented by an elected official selected only by the citizens of that district.

District elections take place every two years with only half of the districts (and their representatives) on the ballot each election. If you don’t see your jurisdiction on your ballot, it is because you live in a district that isn’t holding elections this year but will have elections in two years from now.
