Interactive Results Portal Provides User-Friendly Formats

(Redwood City, CA) San Mateo County will begin posting election results for the November 3, 2020 Presidential General Election on the Registration & Elections Division website at www.smcvote.org, select “Get Election Results” starting at 8:10 p.m. on election night.

Election Night Results Release Schedule:

8:10 p.m. Results include Vote by Mail ballots received in the mail, at a Vote Center or in a Drop Box on or before Friday, October 30.
9:00 p.m. Each half-hour until all Vote Center ballots have been reported.

The post-election results releases will be at 4:30 p.m. on the following dates:

Thursday, November 5 Monday, November 9
Wednesday, November 11 Friday, November 13
Monday, November 16 Wednesday, November 18
Friday, November 20 Monday, November 23
Wednesday, November 25 Monday, November 30

Election Results File Format

  • The CSV file of the Election Results, which provides vote totals for each contest and candidate for each precinct, will be in a different format than in elections prior to November 2019. Please review the Zero report version of this file on our website at www.smcvote.org, select Get Election Results.
  • The PDF file of the summary of Election Results, which includes a breakdown of results by Vote by Mail ballots and ballots cast at Vote Centers, will be in a different format than in elections prior to November 2019. “Times cast” on this report indicates the number of ballots cast. Please review the Zero report version of this file on our website at www.smcvote.org, select Get Election Results.
  • The Results Portal is an interactive reporting system that includes:
    • Results reporting – user can filter by contest
    • Voter Turnout – mapped by precinct
    • Reports – in CSV and PDF formats
      • Vote totals for each contest
      • Vote totals for each precinct for each contest for each candidate

The Registration & Elections Division will send e-mail alerts to interested members of the public as new results are posted online. Requests can be made online at www.smcvote.org, select “Sign Up to Receive Election Night Result Notices by Email” under “November 3, 2020 Presidential General Election” or call/text 650.312.5222.
