(Redwood City, CA) The San Mateo County Elections Office will issue the first semi-official election results for the March 8 Brisbane School District Special Election at 8:05 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8 on their web site, www.shapethefuture.org. Alternatively, anyone wishing to receive the election results via email can do so by signing up online at http://www.shapethefuture.org/elections/2011/march2011/. The request must be received by 5 p.m. on March 7.
To date, the Elections Office has received 738 Vote by Mail ballots from the 1,892 voters who will be voting by mail in this election; that represents a turnout of 39%. There are a total of 4,068 registered voters in the Brisbane School District.
These vote by mail ballots will be tallied along with any vote by mail ballots that are received on Election Day. Results will be released at 8:05 p.m. on election night. Ballots cast at the Elections’ Offices will be reported at 8:30 p.m. The reporting of results from the 8 precincts in the district will commence at 9:00 p.m. or upon arrival.
Vote by mail ballots dropped off at the polls or arriving in the mail on March 8 will be counted and added to the final tally during the Official Canvass period that follows the election.
Semi-official Results will be posted on www.shapethefuture.org on Thursday, March 10 at 4:30 p.m.
“If the majority of ballots cast in this election are cast by those who vote by mail ballot as has been the case in most special elections, the 8:05 p.m. results will be instructive,” noted Mark Church, Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder.

Voters will be deciding whether or not to approve the renewal of a parcel tax to support the schools in the Brisbane School District. The measure requires a 2/3rds vote for passage.
Official election results will be reported at the conclusion of the Canvass, no later than April 5, when a complete audit of the election will have been conducted.
