(Redwood City, CA) Mark Church, San Mateo County’s Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, announced that Monday, May 5 is the first day of the early voting period for the June 3, 2014 Statewide Direct Primary Election.  The early voting period is from May 5 through June 2, 2014.

“As a convenience to voters during the early voting period, voters from any precinct in the county may come to one of our two Voting Centers to cast a ballot or drop off a voted mail ballot,” Church stated. “To cast a non-mail ballot, the voter may choose between an electronic voting machine or a paper ballot,” he added.

The Voting Centers for the June Election are located at:

Registration and Elections Division, 40 Tower Road, San Mateo
555 County Center, First Floor, Redwood City

Hours of operation for the two Voting Centers are as follows:

Monday, May 5 to Monday, June 2 (Weekdays): 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday, May 31: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Tuesday, June 3 (Election Day): 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The early voting period also marks the first day that Vote by Mail ballots will be sent out to those registered as permanent or one-time Vote by Mail voters in the county.

Individuals interested in voting by mail can find an application in the Sample Ballot and Official Voter Information Pamphlet, or online at www.shapethefuture.org.

Vote by Mail voters may use the “Track and Confirm” tool on www.shapethefuture.org to verify when the ballot materials were mailed and when the Registration and Elections Division received their voted ballot.

Voted mail ballots must be physically received no later than 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, June 3, in order for the ballots to be counted.  Voters may mail in the voted ballot or deliver it in person to a Voting Center or city hall in the county.  As well, on Election Day, voted mail ballots may be dropped off at any active polling place in the county until 8:00 p.m.
