(Redwood City, CA) Mark Church, San Mateo County Chief Elections Officer & Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder, announced the opening of the candidate filing period for the November 5, 2019 Consolidated Municipal, School and Special District Election.
“San Mateo County’s success depends upon engaged citizens coming forth to serve their communities in an elected public office,” said Church.
For candidates seeking elected office, the filing period opens at 8 a.m. on July 15 and closes at 5 p.m. on August 9. For offices without an eligible incumbent seeking re-election, the candidate filing period is open for an additional five (5) calendar days and closes at 5 p.m. on August 14.
“I encourage candidates who are interested in serving their communities in an elected office to call the Candidate Filing Officer, Michael Lui, at 650.312.5238 to make an appointment to review the steps in the process, the forms and the requirements for a successful filing,” added Church. “Individuals running for municipal offices should contact their town or city clerk to make an appointment.”
